HARMINE

Back in May, London-based alt-soul duo The Hics shared a five-song EP that succinctly summed up the past five years for the pair, with HARMINE arriving nearly a decade after their debut EP TANGLE. Yet those tracks were plenty to get listeners hyped on what The Hics have in store for the future, with slow-but-soulful cuts like “Caught in a Lie” living up to the expectations set by that prior release.
The record’s centerpiece “On You” is a blend of softly strummed guitar and minimal percussion, a setup easy to reproduce for their “Neighborhoods” set in North London’s Hampstead Heath. Within these green surroundings, The Hics hammer out the tranquil single, swapping electric guitar for acoustic and proper percussive gear for a bucket.
